How can we improve cross-border citizens’ daily lives?

Following the success of the previous episodes of the ‘Beyond Borders: Breakfast Debate’, the next edition will take place on 1st June 2023, and will aim to discuss the unique opportunities and challenges faced by those living in cross-border regions across the European Union.

The debate will focus on understanding the current state of affairs in border regions and we will hear directly from the citizens who will share their on-ground perspectives. The panel discussion will explore how policies and financial instruments, such as Interreg CBC programmes or CEF, can further improve the lives of cross-border citizens and maximise the potential of border regions.

The event, titled «How Can We Improve Cross-Border Citizens’ Daily Lives?», will feature an esteemed panel of experts, including:

  • Jean Pierre Halkin – DG REGIO, European Commission
  • Ancor Armas Martin – Reporter, South Baltic Interreg Secretariate
  • Tom Voortman – Project Officer, EUREGIO DE-NL 
  • Eithne Knappitsch – Researcher, Lecturer and Programme Director, Carinthia University

The debate will also count on the intervention of Rodolfo Ziberna, Mayor of Gorizia (Italy), and will hear directly from citizens who will share their on-ground perspectives. In addition, the panel discussion will explore how policies and financial instruments can further improve the lives of cross-border citizens and maximise the potential of border regions.
